What types of classes do you teach?
I teach regular weekly classes at Spectrum Wellness and Performance in Fernwood:
Hatha Yoga - Tuesday and Friday mornings.
Yin Yoga - Thursday evenings.
I also offer occasional courses covering topics like yoga philosophy and mindfulness, as well as ad hoc workshops that may focus on specific skills or themes.
Courses and workshops are priced separately from the weekly classes and are added to the main schedule as they arise. You can also sign up for my newsletter to get updates on new offerings.
Are these classes suitable for beginners?
Yes. The pace is slow and supportive, with clear instructions and plenty of variations. You don’t need any prior experience to join.
Do these classes suit people with previous experience?
Yes, if you enjoy Hatha and Yin styles of yoga, these are great classes for all levels of experience. Slow doesn’t always mean easy and options are given throughout so you can choose what feels right for you.
Why are the classes 75 minutes?
A 75 minute class provides space to focus on your breath, explore each pose to see what feels right for you and be mindful throughout the practice. It also allows for enough time to relax and unwind at the end.
Do I need to bring my own mat or props?
No, all mats and props are provided. You’re welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing that allows free movement. Layers are useful, especially in Yin yoga, where the body can cool down during longer holds.
Is parking available?
Yes, there is free parking at the venue.
Are there changing facilities?
Yes, changing rooms and showers are available.
Is the studio accessible?
The studio is up one flight of stairs and there is no lift. Please keep this in mind when booking.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, all classes must be booked in advance to secure your place. If you experience any issues with booking, please contact me using the form at the bottom of the page and I’ll be happy to help.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations can be made up to two hours before class. Cancellations with less than 2 hours' notice or missed classes will result in the loss of the pass.
Is there an introductory or trial class?
There is no trial class, but single class passes are available if you’d like to come along and try a session, without committing to attending regularly.
What should I expect in my first class?
A welcoming and supportive environment, where the focus is on how you feel in each pose rather than how you look. I will guide you clearly through each posture and offer options to suit your body. You can move at your own pace and take rests as needed.
What if I have an injury or health condition?
Please let me know before class if you have an injury or health condition. I'll do my best to support you with appropriate adjustments wherever possible. The classes are designed to be accessible, but they aren’t a replacement for medical advice or treatment, so if you have any concerns it’s always sensible to check with a healthcare professional beforehand.
How early should I arrive?
It’s best to arrive 5 - 10 minutes before class to settle in. If you’re running a little late, please enter the studio quietly to avoid disturbing others. If you’ve booked the class, a mat will be laid out ready for you.
Is there a minimum age requirement?
For insurance purposes, participants must be aged 17 or over.
